As Vermont employers face ongoing workforce challenges co-op and work-based learning programs are emerging as promising strategies for connecting students to meaningful career opportunities while encouraging more graduates to build their careers in the state.
The Lake Champlain Chamber and Hula, in partnership with the Champlain College Exchange, Saint Michael’s College, and the University of Vermont Grossman School of Business invite employers, higher education leaders, workforce development professionals, and community partners to explore how cooperative education programs can help strengthen Vermont’s talent pipeline.
Hosted at Hula, this convening will showcase innovative co-op initiatives and experiential learning programs being developed by our higher education partners. Representatives from Champlain College Exchange, Saint Michael’s College, and the University of Vermont Grossman School of Business will share insights into their approaches to employer engagement student participation and talent retention.
Participants will gain a better understanding of how co-op models differ from traditional internships learn about emerging partnership opportunities and discuss barriers that may be limiting employer participation. Together we'll explore how stronger connections between students and employers before graduation can create more seamless pathways from education to employment in Vermont.
