Cafes are your third place, it's the place that you can go after your house or your work and that's been the case for years. It's a really great gathering space. I think it's really where the human connection takes place and I love cafes for that reason.

Magda Van Dusen

Magda Van Dusen is Co-Founder and President of Brio Coffeeworks, operating in the South End since 2014.

Magda moved to Vermont in 2014 to launch Brio. Prior to her move to Vermont, Magda worked in the fields of international development and served in various roles including: Director of Operations at an international development firm, Senior Accountant to non-profit clients, and business consultant at a management consulting firm. She spent her early career as a project and financial manager of international development projects in the former Soviet-Union and the Caucasus.

Magda holds a B.A. in International Affairs and an M.A. in Accountancy, both from the George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Aside from Brio, Magda loves being part of her community and the larger coffee community. She served on the board of Burlington's South End Arts and Business Association (SEABA), and has been on the board of Food 4 Farmers, a nonprofit focused on creating food security for coffee-growing communities.

Magda was born and grew up in a small town in southern Poland, which reminds her a little of Vermont. She lives in the South End with her husband (and business partner), and doggy, Pepper. Her other loves, aside from coffee and being behind bar to serving coffee toguests, include food and travel.
